2023 Property Owner Survey

Input is Critical to Good Government

During the summer of 2023, the Town conducted a survey of property owners to objectively assess their satisfaction with the Town and its service delivery and priorities. 

Think of the survey as a consumer report card for the Town. Property owners rated the quality of life, their satisfaction with municipal amenities, and the town's government. Owners also provided feedback on what is working well and what is not, and identified priorities for planning and resource allocation purposes.

Surveys were sent to a random sample of 3,000 property owners. Owners could either complete the survey online or via the sent survey. Later, a public link to the survey was promoted on this page for those who were not part of the original sample. 

Town Manager Andy Garman presented the survey results to Nags Head's Board of Commissioners at their November 1, 2023 meeting.

The 2023 Community Survey provided insights that played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan adopted by Nags Head's Board of Commissioners February 7, 2024. 

The Town's Strategic Plan serves as our community's roadmap and is used to prioritize initiatives, resources, goals, and department operations and projects. A big-picture document, the Plan directs efforts and resources toward a clearly defined mission and vision. 

The Plan's foundation lies in the collective wisdom of our residents. In addition to reviewing strategic guidance from prior plans, we actively seek community input to understand the needs, concerns, and aspirations for the town's future.
