About Dowdy Park
Dowdy Park, located at 3005 South Croatan Highway, offers five acres of recreation for every age and every ability.
Free Wi-Fi is available.
Event Scheduling and Reservations
Dowdy Park is not available for reservations for private events, such as birthday parties.
Organizations, groups, or individuals may reserve Dowdy Park for public events that are free and open to the public in accordance with the following guidelines:
- June 1st - September 30th: Only Town-sponsored events are permitted.
- October 1st - May 31st: Up to three (3) non-Town events per month are allowed.
- Reservations: Accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to Town policies. Recurring events may secure their same date or day pattern for the following year by submitting a letter of intent within two (2) weeks of the event. Final approval still requires submitting a full application by the appropriate Tiered deadline.
- Frequency: No organization, group, or individual may schedule more than one (1) event within any 30-day period.
- Permits: All Crowd Gathering Activities for Dowdy Park shall require a Tier II Crowd Gathering Permit which requires at a minimum a 60-day deadline to submit the Crowd Gathering Activities Application. Prior to submitting the Crowd Gathering Activity Application, please confirm availability with the Crowd Permit Coordinator.
- Fees: Use of Dowdy Park for Crowd Gathering Event - $200 (events 3 hours or less) plus $100 per hour for each additional hour. Additional fees may occur in conjunction with the Crowd Gathering Application.

*Balloons are prohibited from being released on any Town-owned property, any waters within the Town's zoning jurisdiction, and the beaches and dune areas in Nags Head. This regulation is in place to protect our environment and wildlife from pollution and harm. See Section 26-17 of our town code for more information.
