**Soundside Nags Head - Be prepared for minor coastal flooding, maybe 1-3 feet of inundation above ground level later Saturday into Sunday morning.

Replacement of the Conch Street dune walkover is scheduled to begin Monday, April 3, 2023. Pedestrian access will be limited during construction which is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Vehicular traffic WILL BE PERMITTED permitted to access the dune drive over at this location. The eastern portion of the parking lot will be closed to the staging of equipment and materials.

A contractor for the Town, the Fred Smith Company, has begun a Town street resurfacing project. Shoulder work has already started prior to paving operations and is expected to resume Tuesday, April 4 and continue through Thursday, April 6. Work will then resume again Monday, April 10.

Most of the construction is anticipated to be concentrated along East Admiral Street, South Memorial Avenue between the intersection of East Bittern Street and the terminus south of East Bladen Street, along the length of East Bladen Street spanning from South Wrightsville Avenue through to the East Bladen Street beach access, and along Bainbridge Street from South Virginia Dare Trail to South Wrightsville Avenue.

Portions of the streets may be resurfaced during the period noted above, weather and time permitting. Paving work is expected to begin along South Memorial Avenue, south of Bittern Street. Additional details of the paving schedule and locations will be communicated when additional information becomes available.

We've been told the NCDOT paving project on South Croatan Highway will resume in early April. We'll update you when we know more. 

After extensive planning, construction of the Town of Nags Head’s new Public Services complex is slated to begin in early April. To celebrate, we're holding a groundbreaking ceremony on April 5, 2023 at 12:15 p.m. at 2200 Lark Avenue. 

From South Croatan Highway, turn west onto Eighth Street and then take a left onto Lark Avenue. Parking will be available along the roadway shoulder of Lark Avenue.

Join us at Dowdy Park on Saturday, April 8, 2023 for the Nags Head Police Department's annual Easter Egg Hunt! 

Be sure to bring your Easter basket to fill with candy and prizes. There will be separate hunts for children ages 1-5 and 6-10. 

Dowdy Park is located at the corner of South Croatan Highway and Bonnett Street in Nags Head. 

There is no change to the sanitation schedule due to the Easter holiday; however, all Town administrative offices will be closed Good Friday, April 7, for the holiday.

Residential and commercial collection for the week will be as regularly scheduled.

For subscribers to the curbside recycling service, collection will be as regularly scheduled.

There is no change to the brush/bulk drop-off yard schedule.

We're about to make some pretty exciting improvements to our skateboard park. So, we'll have to close it for a while starting today, Friday, March 31, 2023. We're not sure how long construction will take, but we'll keep you updated. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we think you'll be happy with the end result.

Plastic containers that hold items such as strawberries are called clamshells. They're often marked with SPI codes 1 or 2 but are not accepted in curbside recycling because the material is too thin to process. Plastic bottles and jugs only, please!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $9.60/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
