The Town is upgrading its analog water meters to smart meters. We are doing this to improve both staff efficiency and our customers' billing experience.
Water meters in Nags Head are located outside the home, so owners will not need to be present during installation. Installers will work Monday – Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. There is a possibility they may also work a few Saturdays. Sample Car Magnet for VEPO Water Metering
The Town has contracted with VEPO Metering to perform the installations. All VEPO employees will wear VEPO-branded attire and drive a vehicle marked "VEPO/Contractor for the Town of Nags Head.”
When a technician arrives for the installation, they will knock on the door to notify the customer that their water will be turned off for about 20 minutes. If no one is home, they will leave a
door hanger on the front doorknob letting them know that their meter has been upgraded. Once the upgrade has taken place, please flush your water lines for one minute before resuming normal water use.
