Surveying contractor McKim & Creed is currently conducting a beach survey in Nags Head. They are performing both land-based and water-based surveys, using a pickup truck with the McKim & Creed logo and a Kawasaki side-by-side mule (see photo). For the water-based surveys, they are using a 26'-28' survey vessel for hydrographic measurements.
The work may start in the south and proceed northward. They estimate they will have 60% of the survey done by the end of the week. It is likely they will have to conduct the work in two parts. We'll update this post when we know more.
The survey boat may come close to shore during this process, so please do not be alarmed.
All vessels and land-based vehicles will be identified with the McKim & Creed logo.
