The pedestrian access on the southside of the Melvin R. Daniels Bridge is expected to be closed June 19 - June 23, 2023, weather permitting, for ADA access ramp construction.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is installing ADA access ramps on both sides of the walkway that runs along the south side of the bridge. They expect to reopen the bridge for the weekend.
