W. Side Multi-Use Path Construction Update
• Phase 8A – Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Soundside Rd. to W. Danube St. in conjunction with the construction of a 6’ wide sidewalk from Dune St. to Deering St. (East Side). Construction completed for Phase 8A.
• Phase 8B - Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Baymeadow Drive to Gull Street. Concrete curb & gutter work is nearing completion in the north end of the project between the former Pamlico Jacks and Forbes St.. The remaining concrete curb & gutter work is scheduled to be completed by mid-week next week, weather permitting. Once completed, construction crews will complete the residual areas of infill concrete work with ramp transitions in the area between the former Pamlico Jacks and W. Baymeadow Drive. Incidental work such as finish grading, hydroseeding, striping, and pavement patching will complete the remaining work activities for this phase of the project During active construction periods, temporary lane closures will be in effect. We ask that motorists exercise caution and slow down when traveling within the active construction work zone.
• Phase 8C - Construction of the multi-use pathway, drainage infrastructure, and concrete curb and gutter has been completed between W. Danube Street and W. Seachase Drive. The multi-use path is now open to pedestrian traffic.
