- 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan
The National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum NFIP requirements. As a result, flood insurance premium rates are discounted to reflect the reduced flood risk resulting from the community actions meeting the three goals of the CRS:
To be eligible for discounted flood insurance premium rates, the Town of Nags Head must publish an All Hazards Annual Report.
While the goals and objectives of the Plan will remain the same until the next required update, in August of each year, Town Staff updates the Plan with initiatives that have helped achieve the Plan goals and objectives.
In 2010 the Board of Commissioners decided to join Dare County's Plan. Nags Head's Hazard Mitigation Plan is located in the appendix of their plan.
The report is available for download (PDF) (the link is only for Nags Head's portion of the joint Dare County Plan).
