2023 Property Owner Survey

Input is Critical to Good Government

The Town of Nags Head is conducting a survey of property owners to objectively assess their satisfaction with the Town and its service delivery and priorities. 

Think of the survey as a consumer report card for the Town. Property owners rate the quality of life, their satisfaction with municipal amenities, and town's government. Owners also provide feedback on what is working well and what is not, and identify priorities for planning and resource allocation purposes.

During the week of July 24, 2023 a postcard was sent to a random sample of 3,000 property owners notifying them of the paper survey they will soon receive. The postcard also included a URL in case someone prefers to fill out the survey online.  Please do not share the survey link found in the mailing to you.

If you receive a paper survey and have already completed the survey online, please do not respond twice.

During the week of July 31, 2023 the five-page paper survey, a cover letter, and a postage paid return envelope will be sent to the sample group. 

During the week of August 7, 2023 a postcard will be sent to those who have not yet returned their survey or filled one out online. 

Didn't Receive a Survey in the Mail?

If you didn't receive a paper survey, and therefore were not part of the random sample, we still want all of our property owners to weigh in.

During the week of August 21, 2023 we will post a URL here for fill out the survey online. The results from these surveys will be isolated from those in the sample lot to ensure statistically valid data.

A few things to know:

• Your responses are confidential and no identifying information will be shared.
• To hear from a diverse group of residents, the adult 18 years or older in your household who most recently had a birthday should complete this survey.

The goal is to have all data collected by September 11, 2023, with results being presented to the Board of Commissioners in the fall of 2023 ahead of a strategic planning workshop with staff and the board.
