Strategic Plan adopted February 7, 2024 by Nags Head's Board of Commissioners.

At their February 7, 2024 meeting, Nags Head's Board of Commissioners adopted a new strategic plan that will serve as a roadmap and will be used to prioritize initiatives, resources, goals, and department operations and projects.

A big-picture document, the plan directs efforts and resources toward a clearly defined mission and vision.

The plan's foundation lies in the collective wisdom of our residents and property owners. In addition to reviewing strategic guidance from prior plans, we actively sought community input to understand the needs, concerns, and aspirations for the town's future in a survey conducted in the summer of 2023.

Thank you to those who took the time to fill out the survey last summer. We appreciate your input, as always.

The annual flushing of our water system has been completed.

We have completed the annual maintenance flushing of our water system to remove sediment and other deposits that can build up over time.

We expect to begin the annual flushing again in January or February 2025.

Thank you for your patience as we conducted this important task.

South Croatan Highway Paving Taking Place

The North Carolina Department of Transportation contractor, The Fred Smith Company, is moving quickly on their paving project in the north end of Nags Head, between Hollowell and Eighth Streets on South Croatan Highway.

Lane closures in the construction area will continue to take place over the next 2 weeks or so. The traffic signal contractor will follow behind the paving to ensure all signal work is completed.

Please slow down and be extra cautious when traveling in the active construction area.

The project schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or extenuating circumstances that can result in construction delays.

Plastic bags continue to be one of the leading recycling issues. These bags are not accepted in curbside recycling because they tangle in equipment not designed to process thin plastic. To recycle your bags, please return them to a participating store.

Thank you for recycling right!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $10.33/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
