It's that time of year again, folks! Beach driving in Nags Head begins again Sunday, October 1.

Permits for the season, which runs through April 30, 2024, are on sale now.

The fee is $50 for Nags Head residents and property owners and $100 for all others. 

Keep in mind that we may have to close sections of the beach to driving due to safety concerns. 

The beach from Eighth Street south to just south of Nags Head Pier will be closed to driving. We will reevaluate the closure after November 1.

A nonpartisan municipal election will be held November 7, 2023. Before the election, the League of Women Voters of Dare County will hold a candidate forum October 5 for voters to hear directly from the those running for Nags Head's Board of Commissioners.

The November 7 election will be held in Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Nags Head, and Southern Shores to elect officials. The polls will be open for voting on that day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dare County municipal elections are non-partisan plurality elections. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.

Candidates will respond to questions submitted by Nags Head residents. If you have a question for the candidates, please submit it to the League of Women Voters of Dare County. Be sure to include your name and town.

We want to encourage you to recycle, even if you do not subscribe to the curbside recycling service from TFC Recycling.

You can drop off accepted recycling items at the following locations, which are open 24/7/365, in Nags Head:

As a reminder, please don't place Styrofoam in any recycling receptacles.
