Christmas tree disposal information

Not sure how to dispose of your Christmas tree?

Place your undecorated, tinsel-free Christmas tree on the side of the road in front of your property. It will be collected as part of the Town’s curbside bulk item/brush collection service (available October through April each year).

Be sure to set the tree in a separate pile from other bulk/brush items that need to be collected. For more information, contact the Nags Head Public Service Department at 252-441-1122.

According to the Outer Banks History Center, this is an image of the Mermaid Food Shop in Nags Head. Established in July 1952 by Frank A. Ausband, and managed by Louis Bridges, the shop was unique at the time because it sold ready-made meals for folks to take home.

Napkins are paper, but are they recyclable?

Napkins are paper, but are they recyclable?

Similar to pizza boxes, as a clean napkin, it can be recycled. Once you wipe those greasy fingers, the fibers become coated with that grease, making it unable to be recycled.

Being mindful of what goes in your curbside recycling bin is very helpful to the recycling process.

For a reference guide on what can and cannot go into our recycling containers, click here.

Thank you for recycling right!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at Town Hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our Public Services facility (2203 Lark Avenue), be sure to subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $13.35/month.
