The entire area is under a Tornado WATCH until 6 PM. Tropical tornadoes can often spin up quickly so be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and know where to shelter if a WARNING is issued.
Board of Education Candidate Forum
Dare County Board of Commissioners Candidate Forum

The League of Women Voters of Dare County will hold two candidate forums ahead of elections for the Dare County Board of Education and the Dare County Board of Commissioners on November 5, 2024. 

Both forums will take place in the Board of Commissioners' Meeting Room in the Dare County Administration Building at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo. In addition, both forums will be livestreamed at the Fessenden Annex at 47013 Buxton Back Road AND both forums will be videotaped for airing  on CurrentTV (the viewing schedule can be found at the bottom of forum information flyer).

Dowdy Park Events

While the summer events at Dowdy Park are slowing down, we still have free yoga on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 am and movie nights planned for October 4 and November 1. The movies begin about 20-30 minutes after sunset.

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at Town Hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), be sure to subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $13.35/month.
