Public Input Session ADUs September 18, 2024

The Town of Nags Head will hold a public input session on September 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the topic of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) within the town. This session aims to gather community feedback and provide information on potential changes to ADU regulations. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on how these units could impact housing options and neighborhood dynamics.

The face you make during fall migration when you see bright lights at night!

It's fall migration season and birds would really appreciate a helping hand at night. Artificial lighting can attract large numbers of night-migrating birds from as far as 3 miles away. Birds can become confused and entrapped in these areas of bright lights, circling endlessly, depleting energy stores needed for migration, and even colliding with buildings and infrastructure.

The simple act of turning off outdoor lighting and dimming your home lights at night, especially during peak migration in the spring and fall, can help increase a bird's chances of survival and successful migration.

Here are some precycling ideas for back to school items.

Precycling is about reducing your impact on what goes into the waste stream by purchasing and using items that are unpackaged, reusable or recycled.

Here are a few back to school items that can be precycled:

Water bottle → Reusable bottle

Sandwich bags → Reusable snack bags

Plastic folders → Paper folders

Plastic wrap → Beeswax wrap

Have items to recycle? If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at Town Hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $13.35/month.
