Curbside bulk item/brush collection service extended

Normally, our curbside bulk item/brush collection service ends April 30 each year. However, this year, because our bulk/brush drop-off yard is still under construction, we are temporarily extending our curbside service.

We are excited for you to see the new drop-off yard and think you'll find it much easier to use.

When we know the new yard will be ready for customers, we'll announce it here and will let you know the last day for you to put items out for collection.

Balloons are prohibited from being released on any Town-owned property, any waters within the Town's zoning jurisdiction, and the beaches and dune areas in Nags Head. This regulation is in place to protect our environment and wildlife from pollution and harm. See Section 26-17 of our town code for more information.

At their May 1 meeting, Nags Head's Board of Commissioners prohibited balloons from being released on any Town-owned property, any waters within the Town's zoning jurisdiction, and the beaches and dune areas in Nags Head. This regulation is in place to protect our environment and wildlife from pollution and harm.

What happens to Nags Head recycling?

Ever wonder where your items go after you place them in your curbside recycle bin? Here is the journey your recyclables take after collection day!

  1. They're collected by TFC Recycling
  2. The material is taken to the TFC Chesapeake, VA sorting facility
  3. At the TFC facility the items are separated by the different materials and baled
  4. Once the material is baled they are sent to market to be made into new products

Thanks for helping reduce waste in Nags Head by recycling at home.

Thank you for recycling right!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $10.33/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
