Comment on Proposed Homeowners' Insurance Rate Increases

The insurance companies doing business in our state, represented by the NC Rate Bureau, have submitted a request to NC Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, asking him to increase homeowners' insurance rates by a staggering 42.2 percent statewide. Even more troubling is the 45.1% increase for beach areas like Nags Head.

You have a chance to COMMENT on this request. PLEASE let them know what you think.

If you are not familiar with the DCM, the agency carries out the state's Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Dredge and Fill Law and the federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 in the 20 coastal counties, using rules and policies of the N.C. Coastal Resources Commission, known as the CRC.
