A nonpartisan municipal election will be held November 7, 2023. 

The November 7 election will be held in Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Nags Head, and Southern Shores to elect officials. The polls will be open for voting on that day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dare County municipal elections are non-partisan plurality elections. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.

On October 5, the League of Women Voters of Dare County held a candidate forum for voters to hear directly from the those running for Nags Head's Board of Commissioners. A video of the forum is available on Nags Head's YouTube channel. It is also available on Spectrum cable channel 191 (view schedule), in addition to being posted on the League of Women Voters of Dare County's YouTube channel.

We are joining Dare County and its municipalities in shining a light on the service of our veterans and their families through Operation Green Light for Veterans.

From November 6-19, shine a green light to honor our local vets. All it takes it changing one bulb to let our veterans know they are appreciated.

The public is invited to a ceremony in honor of our nation’s veterans on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the veterans memorial in front of Nags Head’s town hall at 5401 S. Croatan Highway. 

Retired United States Army Colonel Timothy Healy will be the guest speaker and music will be provided by local students.

Can you recycle your spray bottles? Yes!

1. Rinse the bottle of all liquid.
2. Remove the spray nozzle. The metal coil inside is not recyclable.
3. Place the bottle without the nozzle in your curbside recycle bin.

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $10.33/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
