Franklin Moving Away, Idalia to Bring Impacts - Dare County Now Under Tropical Storm Warning
The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for all areas of Dare County due to expected impacts from Hurricane Idalia.
A Tropical Storm Warning indicates that tropical storm conditions—including sustained winds of 39 mph to 73 mph—are expected within 36 hours or less.
Keep in mind that although the forecast track may change, impacts can be felt far from the storm's center.
Along with the other impacts mentioned in the Latest National Weather Service Local Hurricane Idalia Briefing, we are expecting flooding rains anywhere from 3 to 8 inches, so be prepared for ponding on our streets and drive slowly.
The NWS is forecasting moderate oceanside inundation in our area. They expect moderate soundside inundation from Buxton south through Ocracoke (so not for Nags Head at this time).
Wind impacts will be limited.
