Curbside Bulk Item/Brush Collection Service Available October 4 - April 30

Nags Head's curbside collection of bulk items and brush begins on Monday, October 4, 2021 and run through April 30, 2022.

Again this year we'll sweep the neighborhoods once a month to collect vegetative and large household debris. Check out a full list of acceptable materials on our web site.

Please note that there is no longer an on-demand collection or a waiting list. We'll move through the neighborhoods as listed below:

  • Week 1 – Westside (west of South Croatan Highway) neighborhoods north of Jockey’s Ridge State Park (Nags Head Pond, Nags Head Acres, Vista Colony, Woodhill, Villa Dunes, and North Ridge)
  • Week 2 – Westside Neighborhoods South of Jockey’s Ridge (Soundside Road area/South Ridge/Nags Head Cove/Village at Nags Head
  • Week 3 – Eastside from South Nags Head to Hollowell
  • Week 4 – Eastside from Hollowell to Eighth (including between the highways as we call it, or, more clearly, between South Croatan Highway and South Virginia Dare Trail)
**Materials must be placed in separate piles according to type:
  • Vegetative: branches, bushes, shrubs (must be in cut lengths of not over 8 feet), leaves and pine needles (place in paper bags-no plastic bags)
  • Construction and demolition: lumber, drywall, flooring
  • Metals: washers/dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, iron, aluminum, steel
  • Mattresses
Bulk Item/Brush Collection Yard
All year long items can be dropped off at Nags Head’s Bulk Item/Brush Drop-Off Yard on Lark Avenue (turn west on Eighth Street and then left onto Lark Avenue).

Use of the yard requires a Town-issued sticker, which can be obtained at the Public Works office. Also, you may mail your completed application (PDF) along with a copy of your vehicle registration and proof of residency. If you choose the mail-in option and would like for us to mail the sticker back to you a postage stamp must be included with your letter.  The address is Nags Head Public Works, PO Box 99, Nags Head, NC 27959.
