Holiday Office and Sanitation Schedule 


Town administrative offices will be closed Friday, 1/1/2021. Essential services such as police and fire, will continue to operate. 


Sanitation Schedule 


Through January 2, 2021

  • Friday, 1/1 – The blue residential trash route and the commercial trash routes will be collected on 1/2 and not on 1/1.
  • Saturday, 1/2 – The blue residential trash route and all commercial trash will be collected. The bulk/brush collection yard will be open.

  • Please recycle your cardboard. Cardboard-only dumpsters are available at Town Hall (5401 S. Croatan Hwy.) and Public Works (2200 Lark Ave.). 
  • Commingled recyclables can be dropped off at Town Hall and Public Works 24/7/365. 

Water System Flushing Taking Place

Water System Flushing Resumes January 4, 2021

The annual maintenance flushing of Nags Head's water system to remove sediment and other deposits that can build up over time will resume on Monday, January 4, 2020. 

Flushing Schedule - Monday, January 4, 2021 through Friday, January 8, 2021

  • From Eighth Street to Bonnett Street south on both South Virginia Dare Trail and South Croatan Highway, including the Nags Head Pond, Nags Head Acres and Vista Colony neighborhoods.

Passing of Former NC Senator Marc Basnight
With the passing of former North Carolina Senator Marc Basnight earlier this week, our area lost not only a passionate leader, but also a true friend to Dare County and its people. May you rest in peace, Senator Basnight.
