Town of Nags Head
Nags Head Town Hall Spring 2020

Latest Town of Nags Head News

Due to the pandemic, curbside bulk items/brush collection service, which usually ends on March 31 of each year, has been extended until May 24, 2020 to ensure that all of our property owners can take advantage of the service.

For those who have not been in the area recently, we’re making a lot of improvements, such as installing water lines and extending our multi-use path, along the southbound lane of South Croatan Highway between Hollowell Street near Mile Post 12 south to the Outlets Nags Head  in the 7100 block of South Croatan Highway near Mile Post 16. Be prepared for closures of the right lane of the highway in this area. For more information, visit https://www.nagsheadnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=259. This work will continue into the summer. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

National Police Week 2020

This National Police Week we want to recognize the law enforcement officers who do so much for our community.

Their hard work, dedication, loyalty and commitment in keeping Nags Head safe deserves much more than a week of recognition. As Attorney General William Barr said, "The men and women who protect our communities each day have not just devoted their lives to public service, they’ve taken an oath to give their lives in order to ensure our safety."

On May 15 of each year law enforcement officers killed or disabled in the line of duty are honored as part of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Unfortunately this day is especially sad for us as one of our own, Police Sergeant Earl Murray, died while responding to a call in 2009. In his service to Nags Head, he made the ultimate sacrifice and we must never forget that.

Look around you this week at the fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors that are the backbone of our community. Chances are you'll find a few law enforcement officers in the mix. They risk their lives to keep us safe and for that we promise to honor them in our hearts every day of the year.

Slow the spread by keeping healthy distances.
