From May 1 through October 31 each year, a contractor, Trash Detail, manages the movement of a property's sanitation carts from the home to the streetside the afternoon before collection and return them to the home after collection.
All homes with driveways on South Virginia Dare Trail and South Old Oregon Inlet Road can participate in this service, though some may choose not to. If your home or rental participates in this program, please ensure the carts are accessible to Trash Detail's personnel.
All trash must fit inside the cart with the lid closed.

We understand that some of our property owners live in their homes year-round and therefore can easily manage their sanitation carts. If this is the case with your property, you can opt-out of this program for the next service months by filling out the exclusion form by June 1, 2023. This will exclude your property from the service for the months of July, August, September, and October 2023 and May and June 2024. Because the service fee is placed on a property's tax bill, the fee coincides with the Town's fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
If you excluded your property from the service last year, please fill out another form again this year. You will need to do this each year.
Unless you have an alternate and reliable means to move carts back and forth, we strongly recommend that all non-resident property owners participate in this service.
