As part of the state-wide NC Science Festival Star Party, staff and volunteers from the Aquarium and Jockey’s Ridge State Park are joining together to present activities that teach participants about the night sky, stars, planets and beyond. We will do some activities while the sun is up but will focus on having telescopes in the middle of the grounds to allow participants an opportunity to view the night sky—a group of amateur astronomers are setting up their scopes for this event. We would like to have the lights around the parking lot and the stage turned off or down. Participants will be asked to park at the school board/NHES parking lot unless they have a handicapped sticker. This event will be free and open to the public. We will hang a banner announcing the event along the highway fence a day or two before and will remove it that night.
