No change to solid waste collection schedule due to Memorial Day.

Sanitation News

There is no change to Nags Head's solid waste collection schedule due to Memorial Day, but our bulk item/brush collection yard will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2020.

Reminders

  • Due to the suspension of our curbside recycling collection service, the last day that blue recycling carts will be emptied on the Blue Sanitation Route is Monday, May 18, 2020. Those on the Green and Red Sanitation Routes must no longer put their blue recycling carts out for collection on Wednesdays. You can, however, use the blue carts for trash disposal.
  • You can still take your commingled recyclables to either Nags Head's town hall at 5401 South Croatan Highway or to our public works facility at 2200 Lark Avenue. These recyclables will be hauled to Virginia where they will be converted into clean energy. We also have containers for cardboard ONLY; this material will be transported to Dare County for resale.
  • The summer collection schedule begins on Monday, May 18, 2020, so be sure to roll out your carts the evening before collection day because we'll be by early to empty them.
  • The curbside collection of bulk items and brush will cease for the summer on May 24, 2020 (the service normally ends on March 31 each year but was extended due to the pandemic).

Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a subtropical depression or storm is likely to form this weekend while it moves northeastward over the western Atlantic.
