Water service to all 17 homes on W. Bays Edge Dr. in the Village at Nags Head will be temporarily suspended on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 9 am until about 5 pm, while the Town repairs a waterline.Town employees are placing informational hangers regarding this information on the doors of each of the impacted properties.
Once water service is restored, the Town will issue a water pressure advisory notice, which will be in place for 24-28 hours, requiring customers to vigorously boil all water for human consumption for one minute until the advisory notice has been rescinded.
Watch this news item or the Town's Facebook or Twitter sites for updates or subscribe to receive notifications regarding water system information, such as water pressure advisories.
The State of North Carolina requires water system operators to notify affected water customers any time there is a drop in water pressure of a certain amount. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphoning and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Samples will be collected from the affected area to confirm the microbiological quality as soon as pressure is restored.
Please monitor the Town’s web site at nagsheadnc.gov and its Facebook or Twitter sites for updated information. In addition, Town water staff are available to answer questions at 252-441-1122 or 252-449-4210.
